2012 Book of Mormon Challenge

This year we as leaders and beehive class challenged ourselves to read the BOM in 9 months to complete the new virtue project. We all received new paper back BOM's so that we could write down our testimony and give it away when we were finished. When I started to read the BOM I was not sure on how I wanted to focus my study, but as I began to read I decided I wanted to make my own BOM trivia game so when ever I come across something that I think would make a good question I write it down, this has actually really helped me pay more attention to what I'm reading because I have to understand the answer to my questions. Beyond that I also decided to start my first blog/journal and write about scriptures that were inspirational to me during this time in my life, and share my expreiences as once again I attempt to read the BOM all the way through. My favorite quote about the BOM is from Pres. Ezra Taft Benson he says in summary that the moment we begin a serious study of the BOM we will have a power that will flow into our lives that will give us the ability to overcome sin and understand how the spirit works in out lives. I believe that. I believe with out a doubt that consistently and diligently reading the BOM has brought a happiness, and a confidence in knowing who I am and who my Savior is more than any thing else.

Inspirational Scriptures

1. 1 Nephi 20: And when the Jews heard these things they were angry with him; yea, even as with the prophets of old, whom they had cast out, and stoned, and slain; and they also sought his life, that they might take it away. But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance.
I have always liked this scripture but this time I saw how it was applied in my life. I was about a week into reading my BOM every day when one night I was staying in SLC and I realized my BOM was in my bag I left in the car it was snowy out, I was in my pj's already and i had to get up early for a 12 hour shift at work. I debated to myself if i should just read an extra chapter the next day and forget about it, Luckily I decided to go ahead and go get it, I was so glad that I felt the prompting to do so when I saw I had left the light on in my car which would have left me with a dead car in the morning and would have left me no way to get to work. I felt the tender mercy that the Lord had for me that night and remembered how important it is to obey the small quiet whisperings of the spirit.
